Im new here, how should I begin (to use SpeakAlley.com)?
First, you will need to create a SpeakAlley
account. After logging into the account, click around the site and scroll down, this way you can find the different features of each page. We will be posting a video tutorial to introduce all of these features soon. In the meantime, here are a few things to take notice of:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). On this page, you will find answers to common questions. It will instruct you on how to use the Connect page to find other speakers to practice with, information about our structured sessions where you can get help with your English, and other questions: https://www.speakalley.com/faqs
This page will be updated soon.
To speak with others, log into your account and use the Practice page.
Click on the green video button to see a quick tutorial on how to open a session where you can join others for live sessions to practice your speaking skills.
You can also find the SpeakAlley calendars on the Practice page; just scroll down. These calendars will have the session information for structured lessons and informal chats from Native English speakers.
If you hover over or click on the event post in the calendar on the Practice page
, you will see information on the event for that day, such as what the topic will be and how to join it.
Make sure that you check on our Trending page
to see notices, updates, cancellations and other information on our sessions, native speaking and writing tips, etc.
You should join our facebook page for event notifications here
, our fb group for IELTS and TOEFL test takers
, and our fb group
for general sessions, as well as our other social media sites. Go to the bottom of any SpeakAlley page to see the links for these social network pages.
By using the Posts page
, you can post to the community. When you follow someone, you will see their posts along with yours on this page. To see only the posts written by a single person, simply to go their profile page. You can easily find their profile page by clicking on their name from any posts page, an message from your inbox that they have sent to you or by opening your following/followers page-if you are connected with them.
You can also click on their name from the Connect page
, which has a complete list of users, with the people that have used it recently at the top. This is a good way to find those most active on the site too, as those people will show up consistently at the top of the Connect page
listing. A green dot next to their name shows who is currently online.
